DTLC Summer Mixer Recap: Living Out Loud
On July 16, 2026, the DTLC hosted an inspiring summer mixer that brought together professionals passionate about authentic storytelling, representation, and the transformative power of LGBTQIA+ voices in media and advertising. This year's theme, "Living Out Loud: Pride, Joy, and the Power to Shape Culture," explored what it truly means to live authentically while influencing culture across media, politics, advocacy, and journalism.
The evening featured a moderated panel discussion that centered on lived experiences and public visibility, examining how personal authenticity and courage shape storytelling and representation in today's evolving media landscape. Attendees engaged in meaningful conversations about the critical role LGBTQIA+ voices play in advertising, journalism, advocacy, and beyond.
In an industry where diverse voices and authentic representation are increasingly vital, the DTLC Summer Mixer provided a platform for professionals to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the power of living authentically. The conversations that took place serve as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility we have to create inclusive spaces and champion authentic storytelling across all media platforms.
Events like these strengthen our community, inspire meaningful dialogue, and reaffirm our commitment to building an advertising industry that reflects the diversity and richness of the world we serve. The presence of leaders like Susan, Precious, and Laura demonstrates the importance of visible representation and mentorship in creating pathways for future generations of LGBTQIA+ professionals.
A special thank you to all attendees, panelists, and volunteers who made this event a success. Your presence, insights, and passion for creating a more inclusive industry are what make the Chicago Ad Fed community exceptional.
We extend our gratitude to Susan Betteridge, Precious Brady-Davis, and Laura Washington for their authentic conversations and thoughtful leadership. Your voices matter, and your impact extends far beyond this evening.
